Earphones

This sounds like a dumb problem but I have a Powerbook and had never used earphones before but when I tried them, only one side plays. I'm using the earbuds from my iPod. Is there a stereo/mono setting for the earphone jack or something?

Are you sure the plug is all the way into the headphone port? Sometimes there's a last little "click" that requires a slight bit of force when inserting headphone plugs...

Also, check the "Sound" pane of the System Preferences, specifically under "Output."
