eMac restore

I want to run the Restore Software option on my eMac CD, but when I attempt to boot from the CD I get the Apple logo briefly before the screen goes dim and I get the message in several languages that I need to restart my computer. I know that this is typically a kernel panic or a RAM problem (I do have some third-party memory installed), but it only seems to occur when I boot from this particular disc.

Any ideas?
