Finder issues with 10.4.1

Hello, I upgraded to 10.4.1 2 nights ago, but I'm starting to see a bug(?) with the Finder.
It seems that icons will disappear off my desktop, and when I go into the finder they will be missing from my Applications folder, or they will be mismatched with another apps icon.
I have been having to relaunch Finder several times to fix this issue.

To be 100% specific, I started noticing these troubles when I installed the new bittorrent client, but it wouldn't actually let me copy it to the HD properly, claiming it was a corrupted application.

Anyways, any and all words of wisdom would be appreciated.

More issues with finder:

Lost all my preferences when I option-clicked 'change desktop background'. I changed the picture, but ALL of my finder preferences disappeared (Screensaver, smart folders, dock items reverted to default).Plus it wouldn't let me change them back.

Junked the preferences and restarted, and it's working...for now! Will keep you informed if this changes.
