i have an ibook g3 and im not sure which version of jaguar i am running on. the computer freezes when it comes to the grey apple screen with the spinning symbol below the apple. i have tried booting in safe mode and by optical disk but none seem to work. some times the spinning wheel just stops and the system is frozen, other times i get the multi-lingual messages to restart the computer. i have run single user mode and run fsck -y and it says that volume is journaled. no checking performed. then it says use the -f option to force checking. upon running that option, there are a ton of orphaned indirect nodes and some need link count adjustment. then it checks the catalog hierarchy and i get a bus error. i never get an ok for anyting. i have even run the fsck -f many times. any ideas??
