G4 533 Dual Boots In Root Mode.

My G4 533 Dual (10.2.8 I think) automatically boots into root mode. A black screen with :/root on it. I don't know how to get out of this to start up! I have been able to use the main hard drive (though not the third party add on) in firewire diskmode on my laptop and it checks out fine in Disk Utility. Alas I can't find my OSX install disks either. Help!?

Do you hear a boot up chime when it starts up?
Do you hear the fan running?

Have you tried typing: mac reboot then hit the return key?
