get the VPN icon out of my menu bar!

i accidentally started to configure a vpn setup (in internet connect) and it put a vpn icon in the menu bar. even though ive disabled vpn in my network prefs, the icon remains..how can i get rid of it?

Hold down the "Command" button while you drag the icon out of the menubar.
