I have been using Canvas for years, and have been quite satisfied. It is large, however, and the upgrade costs for the majority of my uses are quite high. It is only PPC, and several queries as to when a universal version or the next upgrade will be available have gone unanswered. The product is starting to age a bit.
I am looking for a replacement that it capable of several specific things. I have tried a number of applications, but have not been very happy with any of them so far. So, I am seeking others input.
1. Total cost needs to be less than $100 and upgrades need to be considerably less for future versions.
2. Often do floor plans and other layouts, and want to be able to sraw dimension lines when I do.
3. Often draw diagrams for state machines, flow diagrams, and things similar to org charts.
4. Want to be able to draw with simple, clean lines sometimes, but also want arrowheads and colour at other times.
5. Ideally I want smart lines that lock onto the edge of an object (too many tools lock onto the centre of the object).
6. Lean and mean. Bloatware that takes a minute or more to initialize is obscene. Especially for the light use I have.
7. I use separate programs for photo editing, so the utility does not have to support that, but some paint tools would be nice.
So, what would you suggest?
