Help: Mac Mini problems

Mac Mini 1.42 / Tiger / 256Ram

I have a mac mini I use for a mail server.

Yesterday the drive seem to go bad, wouldnt read a few things, then took forwever to boot and jut hang without booting.

replaced hard drive, now after it has been on a while, it gets Hot, the fans spins up like a turbine and it shuts down.

Any ideas what i need to replace? I would prefer not to buy anothe mac mini, but I need it fixed as soon as I can.

Did you get one that might have a higher RPM than the previous drive? Remember that sometimes this generates more heat than the slower 5400 RPM drive inside the mini, which is what was designed to go in the mini anyways.
