Everyone -
well, someone suggested using 10.2.4 's IOUSBFamily.kext file to replace the same file in 10.2.5 to solve a problem with Belkin hubs.
I tried it, it failed, and now I can't get any USB kb/mouse to work. I replaced the old file with the 10.2.5 version (I am still running 10.2.5) and here are the interesting points:
I CAN hold left shift, and get USB kb/mouse when it boots up in 'safe' mode.
I CAN hold apple-S and see the shell prompt
-- HOWEVER --
Once at the prompt, my usb device immediately goes away, and I can't type.
I have no usb access on normal boot, even after rebooting from 'safe' mode.
I have tried booting from the jag cd and running disk utils to verify/fix permissions, which it does, but to no avail.
How do I get out of this mess? If I reinstall 10.2, will it erase my apps/mail/etc???
Thanks!!!!
