iBook IEEE1394 Harddrive Permissions

I have an iBook G4 and it only has a 30Gb HD in it so I used one of my 160Gb SATA harddrives and bought a enclosure so I could connect it to my iBook via Firewire (IEEE1394).

It finds the harddrive just fine, but when I info the drive, is says under "Ownership and Permissions" that I can only read. I tried to find options in system prefrences but was unable to find anything that helped.

I am running 10.4 Tiger. Im not a mac expert but know "enough" for casual use. I am unfamiliar with this problem. Is there an easy resolution I have over looked or is this something more complicated?

....NTFS... :-/
But I've mapped NTFS network drives and that's worked fine. Can MacOSX not write to NTFS but can read?

Going to tell me I have to format and start over? Its kinda hard to backup 160gigs of data....

Possible chance of conversion?
