Effective on December 2, 2004, United began offering customers on
select transcon flights a new onboard product by Verizon that provides fliers
with access to selected stored information from the internet. With
JetConnect, United flyers will be able to send and receive e-mails
in-flight, through their laptops. United is the first airline to
provide this service. Besides two-way capability JetConnect also
offers
instant messaging and text messaging and links travelers to
web-accessed
content that's updated every 15 minutes. JetConnect services can be
purchased with most major credit cards, do not require any special
software and will work on both Macs and PCs. It's also compatible with
most e-mail programs.
<--- A bit retarded service comparing to Lufthansa's but better than nothing.
