As a designer, i'm flexible to try new things... but can some one explain whats the difference between FINK, X11, KDE and erm various others.

I've downloaded Apple X11 but how i get it to do things?

Someone wanna teach me?

Uh, I could tell you... but if you do a search there are a lot of HOW TO threads on here which would probably be more helpful :)
I used to have X11 installed, it was great! I didn't install it again after my computer crashed though...

X11 is WindowServer for the Unix underpinnings of OS X: instead of a Command Line Interface you get nice windows and stuff.

Fink is a package manager for Unix applications, utilities etc. It downloads and installs programs and libraries and such.

FinkCommander is a GUI for Fink.

KDE and Gnome are desktop environments, which supply, desktops, taskbars, icons etc. for X11.

So you need X11 for graphical unix apps under OS X. You can download these apps via Fink + FinkCommander and Gnome/KDE will enhance your user experience by providing Docks, StartMenu's etc. instead of just a terminal.

Look round in the FAQ and use the Search finction for more. Have fun! :D
