Hi, my G4 1 Ghz gets kernel panic when I try to delete this Mac game called Nova. It was a demo. I haven't had problems with kernel panic in a long time. I booted up Disk Utility and ran Repair Disk on my boot volume and ran Repair Permissions too. That didn't fix the problem so I booted up Norton Systemworks 2.0 and ran the Disk Docter too. It fixed some problems with the Catalog-B tree and various miscellaneous items. But that didn't fix the problem either.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Thanks

...and solved it by de-installing Norton Utilities, acting on a suggestion from someone on the Apple forums.
If it happens again, try that.

I was AMAZED tonight when I checked the terminal program "top" and discovered that the Norton Missed Tasks program was running.

I had long since uninstalled Norton (garbage). I THOUGHT I had also searched for every trace of Norton on my hard drive. Another search yielded more than a dozen files I needed to get rid of.

I have Norton Utilities 7. Big mistake. I will be buying Diskwarrior soon.

After several rare, but odd, problems with my Mac, I've decided to uninstall Norton Systemworks. Only I can't.

The uninstall program says it's searching, then says it's uninstalling, but then says "a few programs could not be uninstalled."

Well, in reality, it will have removed less than 10% of Norton files! How do I go about removing this crap once and for all? I'm afraid that even by searching and hand deleting found files, I'll miss some.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Lee
