kernel panic (no platform driver)

i have a i mac g4 i download security update then got kernel panic i have no OS disk . also not sure if CD ROM is working as not showing on computer also CD disk only spins for a moment. at my wits end now.
 
Did you install the security update for your platform or for Intel platform?
Was there any interruptions or errors during that install?
What version of Mac S X do you have?
Do you have any other Macs with the same or later OS?
What you'll need is the install discs... but depending on the details above, perhaps something else can be done too.
