# xmodmap -e "keycode 74 = 6"
does change my X keymap as shown with
# xmodmap -pk | more
which should correspond to my right arrow key mapped as number 6
(I'm messing around trying to make my arrow keys to work as directions would on a numeric keypad) Pressing the arrows there is no difference. Installing the command in my ~.xinitrc file doesn't do anything at all when X is restarted (of course I had to create .xinitrc so I dunno if it gets read at all... seems that only startx looks for it, but it never finds any files it wants for some reason which is why I have to "xinit" or click the x11 app instead of "startx").
hmmmmmmm. I suppose it's a shot in the dark
PS: Anybody get use of the "showkey" command?
