Both, if you have the budget. Otherwise, max out the RAM first. You will have to replace the hard drive eventually, as it would be the first major component to wear out. A 16MB Cache Toshiba HDD is a great choice for a 5400RPM hard drive.

Veljo Mac Enthusiast Nov 1, 2005 #4 I'd say update the RAM first, and if you were serious about getting good speed out of a hard disk look at a 7200RPM Firewire hard disk, or buy a 7200RPM internal IDE PC hard disk and buy a Firewire case for it.
