Mac osx do not see my ethernet card

I have install a ethernet card in my G4 (mac OS 10.1.4 server). The LED of card is green (so there is "life" inside !), but System Preference only show the internal port (modem port and internal ethernet port).

How to tell Mac OS X that there is a new ethernet card inside ?.

Does the System Profiler see it ?

Maybe the card needs a special driver ?

The green LED probably only indicates that the card is getting power, or that a link is detected. It does not necessarily imply that your OS can see the card.
