Macbook pro - mach kernel not found

So I wiped the hard drive but when i tried to re-install snow leopard i was not able to because my optical drive does not work anymore. The only other mac computer i have is a new iMac running 10.5.8. I tried reinstalling my macbook pro install disk from my iMac but it will not work. Is there a way I can do this?

The discs that come with a particular model Mac will only work with that model Mac. You can't take a system disc that comes with an iMac and use it on a MacBook Pro. In order to install Mac OS X to any model Mac, you'd need a retail copy of Mac OS X. You can either purchase it from Apple or find a deal that suits you here:
