Hi: I was using Mail on Tiger 10.4.3 with my gmail account for weeks. I have an iMac G5. I had to trash some preferences today due to a font problem which I cleared up.
Mail no longer works. I tried to recreate my gmail account, and a few others, but I'm not having any success.
When I go to create a new account, Mail gets stuck on the screen where it tries to log in to the new account with your username and password, where the incoming server is listed. That wasn't working on any account. I finally ignored it and the warning after trying 2 pop and 1 imap account. I got the imap account to download, but it won't send.
The gmail account will not retrieve or send.
I am able to ping all the servers involved.
I have read about other people having port problems with Mail.
I downloaded Thunderbird and was able to get the imap account from above working perfectly.
What do I do? I did have it working fine. At one point, due to the earlier problem, I installed the combo package upgrade for 10.4.3 but have no clue if that has now caused the issue.
