Hi, I am hoping to find an answer to an issue which is quite minor, but apparantly has no solution. I have a Power Book G4 667Mhz with OSX 10.1.5. I am using .Mac for the first time (the trial version) and I like the mail application how it notifies you with a red marker on the dock icon of the number of messages you have. Very useful. What I'd like to do is have this information updated and viewable at all times. But if I put the Powerbook to sleep, this feature will not sync unil about 2-3 minutes after I re-awake it. I realize I can always click on the dock mail icon and get synched faster, but with 56k it still takes almost a minute. Is there a way I can wake up and see the total # of new messages instantly? The only other possiblity I see is leaving the PB on all the time, which I have no probelm with, but I can't turn off the monitor. Even at night, if the screen is dimmed fully, there is still a noticeable glow. I realize this is all very minor but I don't want the lcd on 24/7, even at a very low power stage. Any suggestions? Can I turn the lcd off completely somewhow, it has no power switch that I know of.
Thank you all for your time, I realize this is really a non-issue I have, but look at it as a mental OSX challenge!!
