I am using a Quicksilver Server, and I recently tried installing a Matshita DVD-RAM LF-D211A optical drive in it. Neither iTunes nor Toast recognizes it as a disc burner, and the apple system profiler page for the drive looks like this:
MATSHITA DVD-RAM LF-D211A:
Firmware Revision: A109
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Vendor Supported)
Profile Path: /Library/DiscRecording/DeviceProfiles/PatchBurn-matshitadvdramlfd211a.drprofile
Cache: 1024 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write:
DVD-Write: -RAM
Burn Underrun Protection CD: No
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: No
Write Strategies:
Media: No
I have tried installing Patch Burn, which said it was successfully installed, however neither iTunes nor Toast responded in any useful way. I am still unable to burn discs.
Thanks
