Mem upgrade for PowerMac G3

Hi,

I have this PowerMac G3 that I'd like to add some SDRAMM to. I grabbed an SDRAMM stick from a dell dimension and tried placing that into the G3 (desktop, tan) however, when I tried to close it back up I couldn't close it completely because the new memory stick was too tall and was stopping the power supply fan from dropping back in to it's original position.

These G3's use some special 'low' length memory sticks is there some special name for these. THe manaul doesn't get specific.

thanx,

Hi there,

you have to be careful adding RAM of any kind to your system. The good thing about macs is though that if it the wrong one ( after you were able to fit it in ) it will not boot and that is more or less it.

I would still double check what RAM your G3 needs. I found this website
www.crucial.com
they 1. ) sell cheap RAM and 2.)tell you exactly as well which RAM you need.

So by the sounds of it the RAM you are using are not really the correct ones.
Have a look on that website which RAM they recommend for the Dell and which for your G3 model,

SeeYa,
Fil
