My Mac has started speaking and won't stop

As it says, my G4 iMac Flat Panel has started speaking and won't stop. Every time I open a new workbook or application a voice tells me what I'm doing. I want to know how to turn it off, I'm sure this is very easy but I cannot for the life of me find out how to do it!

Also check out the "Universal Access" preferences in System Preferences for a better understanding of what's going on and what is available to you.
