Nagios and check_nrpe

I'm taking a networking course and im supposed to install nagios and check_nrpe to get started. But the guidance from the tutor isnt very helpful and im not so very good at this yet.

I have installed Nagios and check_nrpe 2.12 on openSuse running on virtualbox on my mbp wih SnowLeopard.

I have installed the Nagios plugin and check nrpe on my snowleopard system and it works if i check localhost.

I've installed everything as the guides told me to. But here is the error im having now.


# /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H 192.168.10 -n
CHECK_NRPE: Received 0 bytes from daemon. Check the remote server logs for error messages.
 
and here is the log

#sudo tail -f /var/log/system.log

com.apple.launchd[1] (org.nagios.nrpe[87379]): Exited with exit code: 1
com.apple.launchd[1] (org.nagios.nrpe[87380]): getpwnam("nagios") failed
