Just got my mac tonight. Im used to hitting prnt screen key in windows and pasteing into photoshop for taking a screen shot, how do I do it in osx? is there a program I need? if so which one. thanks

The program you want is "Grab" and you will find it inside the Applications/Utilities folder.

There is also a shortcut key, but I can't seem to remember what it is right now... ???

Apple-shift-3 take the entire desktop
Apple-shift-4 takes a selection
apple-shift-4 then space does a selected window

if you hold control for any of the above it will put the image on the clipboard

easy

i had 58 pdf screen shots on my desktop after trying to get that right!!

Those shots made with apple-sfift-3/4/4-space - Jaguar saves them always as PDF. If you like other formats like jpg, gif, tiff, you might like Kunvert -(it's freeware). Anyway - congrats for the new Mac :)

For other "newbie" questions you could also refer to Mac Help (yes, it's slow but it answers most basic questions of people new to the Mac). Just click on your desktop to bring the Finder to the front and go to the Help Menu and select Mac Help.
