Old Powermac G3 and X

I have an old Powermac G3, 500 mhz. The processor card is an after market card. It will not accept Mac X. Is there a work around of any sort? I thought about taking installing it on a extra HD I have and then putting it into the system. Is this a stupid Idea? Any suggestions?

Is the G3 an upgrade card? sitting in an older machine or a clone. There are problems if this is the case.

I have a G3 500 B&W (clocked) and it works fine.

I have macOSX on a G3 iMac 400 as weell.

Is it a Beige G3 or a B&W G3?

If Beige, what size hard drive do you have (the beige G3's must have a system partition that is less that 8 GB)?

What other non-Apple things do you have installed?

It is a beige G3, I have enough memory and stuff. Just the install card is holding me back.

What make of processor card is it?

Usually, XPostFacto helps to install OS X even on supported systems when it won't install. Try it.

You'll probably still be restricted with an 8 GB boot partition for OS X
