Os 10.3 Help Startup

location: University of California, San Diego
System: iMac G5 20"
OS: 10.3

problems: top taskbar keep disappearing and appearing after started up; can't see files, icons, etc on desktop

assumption: finder crashed?

tried:
1. safeboot - couldn't do it
2. options v and c - no change
3. repair via cd - no change
4. deleted finder preferences - no change

Many thanks in advance. Any help?!

That sounds like the Finder has crashed/closed.


Do you have any 3rd party hacks that allow you to "Quit the Finder"?

tried: force quit - control, option, apple ESC ---no effect

do you know any 3rd party hacks?


thinking: could be cause by new UPDATE? possibly? odd though.

Try Tinkertool.

Sorry, what version of 10.3 are you running? The latest one is 10.3.9 that had been known to cause problems.
