Anyone know how to stop OSX ftp server from doing a DNS lookup or whatever it does when a client tries to connect? I'm on a network that doesn't have a permanent internet connection so when the internet isn't connected it hangs for a while when a client tries to connect.
 
can you setup a static entry in the host/NI database for the clients that are
going to connect and tehn change the lookup sequence in lookupd to
hit the file/db before jumping to DNS. Simple actually (assuming you know
the name/IP of the clients).
 
Thanks. Yes, I actually do have entries for the hosts that I want to connect. How would I change the order that it searches in lookupd?
