Palm Desktop Error: Application Launch Failure - Transport Manager

I have OSX 10.4.6 running on a PowerBook G4. I just bought a Treo 650 (Sprint) and am trying to install the Palm Desktop software.

Every time I try to install, toward the end of installation, I get this error:

Application Launch Failure

The application "Transport Monitor" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "h<Transport Monitor><Transport Monitor><HotSyncLib.PPC><__ct__16CTransportRelMacFP18OpaqueTransportRefUc>"

I've tried all the "solutions" I could find by browsing the web... none of them worked. I tried deleting any Palm or Hotsync folders wherever I found them, including the Library/Application Support folder... removed Transport Manager and Palm Desktop Background from Login Items... they just come back.

Help!!!!
 
My wife has a Palm T5 and has occasional problems with connection.

Check you are using the right version of the Desktop. If I remember rightly, the Mac does not use the latest version of the Palm Desktop.

If you still have problems, try "Missing sync for Mac" from Mark/Space. This will allow you to work with the Palm Desktop or, alternatively, the built-in Apple Address Book.
