Hi,

I just purchased a Pioneer DVR-107 from Accupc for $ 138.50 including shipping. Ordered it on Thursday and received it on Monday via Fedex. Great service! It has since come down to $123.00! Best price I've seen on this item anywhere. A patch will be needed to use this burner. I installed the new burner applied the patch and it works like a charm!

Purchased at: http://www.accupc.com/search_result...dvr-107&x=0&y=0

Patch available at: http://www.macwelt.de/magazin/0310/PatchBurn1.1en.sit

Hope someone finds this useful.

Does anyone know of a patch available for panther? Seems like a really great price for a dvd burner but if it doesnt work in panther whats the point....

I just bought one of these drives myself, for $123.00 with free shipping from www.royalcomputer.com.

www.esbuy.com has the drive for 122.50 for the beige bezel, and 127.50 for the black bezel drive, free shipping as well.

I used lacie's patch for the drive (which is custmon built for this drive), as it was recommended over patchburn by www.xlr8yourmac.com.

Rumor has it that 10.3.3 has native support for this drive, guess we will have to wait and see.

Have you had any luck finding 8x media?

And one note for MDD users (not sure about the other mac cases), the front bezel will have to be removed from the drive to clear the opening (it just snaps off with the tray extended.)

Hard to keep up with technology :) plextor today announced a new drive capable of burning dvd+r @ 12x. Granted I used dvd-r myself, but it is just a matter of time before 8x (dvd-r) is surpassed as well.

I guess I'll have to live with 8x for the next 2 or 3 months or whenever they up the dvd-r speeds..... :)

I also heard that Philips is working on releasing a dual-layer burner as well! :D
