postscript - what, why & how

Racer D

what?
I hope I'm posting this in the right forum...

I've heard about this postscript thing but couldn't really find anywhere (yes I did check adobe.com) how different it is from other printing technologies. What does it do that others don't. I know about better image quality, but from where does it come? And does that benefit me as a home user and do I need a special printer (there are some that say "native postscript support") or just drivers

please if you have some urls with nice explanation list them here or if anyone feels like explaining that would be extra nice :D

tnx

Postcript printing is mainly for graphics use. It produces more acurate colour and images. Usually most laser printers have got postscript built in but to get postcript on an inkjet printer you need a RIP. Hope this helps.
