Powerbook 550 Logic Board Replacement??

Have a bad logic board in a 550 powerbook, options on possible cheap replacement boards???

that will not work. you need a 540 or 550 board.

even a 520 board will work but the cpu is slower. 25MHz in the 520 vs. 33MHz in the 540, 550

520? 540? I don't believe Apple ever made PowerBook G4s with those speeds.

What are you referring to when you say "25MHz or 33MHz?" Bus speed?

no, he has a 550 powerbook which has a 68040 cpu. he was simply wondering if a pb G4 board would work in his 550 shell.

btw, those speeds are cpu. I think 66MHz was the fastest 68k cpu.

The fastest standard Mac 68040 CPU was in the Quadra 840av at 40 MHz... (although some accelerator boards could go higher, for sure)
