On PowerBooks & iBooks it used to be that you could boot into OS 9 and toggle how the function keys + "fn" key worked (i.e. make it so that you had to hold down "fn" to get volume, brightness & etc. and otherwise they were normal function keys).
What happens now:
1. Boot into OS 9 & make the change.
2. Boot into Panther & realize it didn't work.
3. Boot back into OS 9 & realize that Panther has changed the setting back to how it was before.
4. Bummer.
I hope this doesn't mean Apple has decided laptop users have to hold down "fn" in order to use F1 through F7. If so, I hope someone finds a way to override this setting. Any ideas?
