WHY QUICKTIME IS IN MUTE MODE EVEN IF I TURN IT OFF..I CAN HEAR NOTHING WHILE A MOVIE IS PLAYING..! WHY that?

Please DON"T SHOUT! Well as your problem goes is we need a little info:
1. What Mac are you using?
2. What version of OS X are you using?
3. what version QuickTime are you using? Also is the no sound problem on all movies and is the no sound problem in all application or just QuickTime?

:) I got a PowerBook G4 17", Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Quick Time Pro Version 7.1.3
Such a 'mute' problem appears only @ quicktime. For example VLC manage to play every movie successfully

What do you suggest then?..

The most common cause of this problem is your audio output frequency getting somehow switched. Open Audio MIDI Setup (in /Applications/Utilities) and make sure Output is set to 44,100hz, 2ch-16bit.

This problem will kill the audio in a variety of programs, including QuickTime Player and I think RealPlayer, but probably not VLC.
