Require help for Mac OS X Tiger in *.dmg

Hey guys, I am new here.
This is my first Mac and learning the operation of Mac etc.
My friend gave me his old Mac with G4 700 processor with 1GB Ram.
He also gave me a copy of Tiger OS in *.dmg format.
Can I pop that CD (4 of them) in and will they boot automatically?? I mean in PC, you know how you have to choose the boot device (floppy,CD,HDD etc..).. ?? Thanks so much!
 
If your friend gave you a copy of Tiger in .dmg format, it is pirated. Discussing pirated software violates the rules of this forum. Please don't do this again.
