Resetting DVD Drive Prefs

My DVD Superdrive fails when trying to burn from the finder, toast and iTunes. I have tested it using another OSX install and it worked fine.

Therefore, I assume it is a software issue and want to reset its prefs or alike. Can anyone tell me what the prefs are called or if this is a good idea or not?

It does not get an error as such but just hangs in verfication when using finder and does not begin burning in iTunes (the drive just whirs up then back down continually). Toast just worked again but I find it unreliable at the best of times!
