reverting to imovie 2

After reading people's troubles with imovie 3, I'm pretty wary. Still, I'm curious but don't want to get stuck with it if I decide imovie 2 was better, so...

Does anyone know a sure fire way to back up iMovie 2? I mean, can I just burn the app straight from the application folder and be able to reinstall it later? Or is that asking for trouble?

Help.

My nephew just went through this hassle...

1) He upgraded the machine to 10.2.4 (10.2.5 wasn't out yet)...

2) He install all the iLife software packages

3) iMovie 3 had tons of problems.

4) He had to reformat the entire drive, and start all over. He did have his data backed up but still, what a royal pain.

I have no idea if there was a better solution. I offered to research it for him, but he seemed intent on doing it his way so I let him.

I installed iMovie 3, and it seemed to suck pretty bad... but I don't use it enough to matter right now (don't have a video camera). :)

Ya know,

I haven't used iMovie 3 extensively, but I've never had troubles. It's fast enough on my 800mHz iMac, and there have been one or two minor updates for bug fixes.

Having said that, iMovie 2 is and excellent program. The program called Pacifist will allow you to extract iMovie 2 from your system discs.
