Sharing a G3 with a G4

Ok I have an old beige G3 laying around the house, and I want to make use of it. I don't want it on my network, so I can just throw a crossover cable between them and mount a shared folder right?
 
Yup.

If your other computer is relatively new (MDD G4 or newer, newer PowerBooks, newer iBooks, etc.) a crossover cable isn't even needed -- a regular old patch cable will work, since they have auto-crossover ethernet ports.
