Hello,
This is probably a weird question to ask but I figured I'd give it a shot.. Does anyone know how to create a user interactive script? (if there even is such a thing). I mean, a script where you enter something either a phrase, or command, etc. and the script would respond accordingly.

I'm not completely new to linux/unix scripting but I have not done anything this advanced. Can this be done? I'm running OSX lion, but I also have access to a Ubuntu server.

What you want is the read builtin shell command.

help read

will give you the synopsis, and the section on read in Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide has lots of great examples.
