Sleep crashing with 10.2.6

I haven't had a sleep issue since OS 9, but now after running the combo updater of 10.2.6 when I put my mac to sleep (G4 DP 1 GHz), the screens go dark, but the computer is humming away and it will not wake up. I am forced to hold in the power button until it shuts down than start it back up.

If anyone has an idea of what to check or do, that would be nice, but I have to say this is a little absurd. Updates should not break things, it is that simple. I really don't care about the intracasies of programming right now - I am a a consumer. I paid a big chunk of change for this machine and I expect at minimum that it turns on and off correctly with a system update. Is it really too much to ask for a $2400 computer? Forgive my ranting, but I expect this from my PC which I NEVER trust to put to sleep.

P.S. I am using a Radeon 8500 and not the 9000 it came with.

Do you have any SCSI cards in your machine? That is the only Sleep issue I had with my machine, but I got an update for the SCSi card driver that took care of it. My machine sleeps all night long ever since :D zzzzz

Sorry - no scsi! Thanks any ways.

I'm going to reinstall and update to 10.2.5 - I'm pissed off at Apple for this. I am way past the days of enjoying tinkering with my stupid computers.

That would have been my advice. Every update of 10.2 seems to have issues like this that require downgrading on certain systems. Hopefully they will iron out these issues with Panther.
