Software Updates panel shows no logs

My Installed Updates tab shows no list of updates, nor can I find a "Software Updates.log" file anywhere. I checked the rights of the /Library/Logs directory and they seem to be correct root:admin ug+rwx o+rx
Does anybody have any idea on how I could have the installed software updates log file rebuilt?
 
No need to rebuild that log, your system keeps track of what's installed through receipts files. If you run any of the various utilities that cleans out your system logs, that sofware update info would go away, also seems like cleaning out the systems caches does much the same thing. If you look in your Library/Receipts folder, you'll see all the installer updates that have been applied to your system (and not just OS X updates). If your Updates log is now blank, the Software Update also checks in the Receipts for previously installed updates.
 
my SW update log has been blank ever since i upgraded to jaguar last year. no matter what i install via SW, it stays blank. i've always wondered if there was a way i could fix it, but it was never more then a minor annoyance to me...

My log has also been blank since upgrading to Jaguar. I have not looked very hard to solve this but it's weird.

There are lots of files in /Library/Receipts so I guess it looks elsewhere on my machine.
