Sound Input though Internal Speakers??

Hi,
I'm just trying to configure the Sound in Jaguar to feed to Audio from a scanner going into the Sound input port , though to the Internal Speakers. I can do it in Audio X, but It has to have the preferences open all the time.

I've Tried it on both Line in and Sound Input. They both register sound being inputted but that's about it. It won't feed to the speakers/headphones.

Its there something in Terminal that I can run to fix this up?

I have sort of the same problem.
i have a turntable conected to a mixer then going into the mic input. in os9 i just change the settings to sound in and it worked fine. But in osx when i go to the sound prefs and set up sound in i see the levels telling me the sound is coming in but i hear no sound.
the sound comes from my main speakers and built in speakers ok when i use iTunes but not through sound in.... please help
