Spotlight Is Flashing

Suddenly, after working perfectly, Tiger started acting up. Spotlight and the date is flashing on and off.

Every once in a while it corrects itself for an hour or so.

When this is happening, my iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes.

Strange connection!

What do I do?

A faulty LaCie floppy drive was causing the problem.
