talk sessions

hello. my roomate and i (both running os x.1 on G4's) both have terminal sessions going on his computer. (he gave me a shell account) for grins i decided to try and initiate a talk session with him

[localhost:~] andy% finger

[localhost:~] andy% talk aaron

at this point he never recieves a talk request while my computer continues giving me the following message:

[Checking for invitation on caller's machine]

we get the same message when he trys to initiate. anyone had any luck talking?

I've been trying without luck to get talk working since 10.1 came out - 10.0 broke it relative to PB, but I sorted out a fix (had to specify @localhost, IIRC). 10.1 has broken it again, and I have yet to get it sorted. even ssh from somewhere else doesn't seem to do it.

I have submitted this as a bug to Apple. Kind of hard figuring out which of their categories "talk is broken again" fits into ;). Maybe I'm dreaming, but if more people do the same, just maybe it will be fixed sometime in the future. I'm not holding my breath any, but...
