UNIX scientific apps operated on Aqua

its so great to see the unix world take a liking to osx. I see info about osx all the time on *nix web sites and since osx uses free bsd many x86 bsd people are going mac. I know a guy from the bsd x86 world who is now a salesman at local mac dealer here.

there is a lot of good in an os that dates back to the late 60's and has been improved all its life and is used more now than ever. free bsd is not user friendly at all but osx is and its a great os to learn unix on since its so easy to use in a normal gui way. the osx gui is leaps and bounds ahead of any bsd window manager on x86.

I just discovered a plethora of high-end open source chemistry software recently available for Mac OS X 10.3. All of it requires X Windows. I'm using one to render high quality images for my masters thesis. The program I need must be able to work with x-ray crystallography data files. Three are Chimera (Python), PyMol, and VMD. I've been doing a lot of work with Python lately, the images are of the quality that you would find in Science and Nature.
