USB flash drive won't mount

I have a USB flash drive I've been using for about a year. It's an 8GB PNY model. Recently it stopped working in my MacBook Pro. The flash drive works fine in other computers, and the MacBook's USB ports work fine with other devices, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

When I plug in the flash drive, I get no response at all. Normally when I plug it in, the green activity light starts flashing immediately. The drive does not show up at all in Disk Utility. It's as though the drive or the USB port is simply broken, but again, both are known to work in other circumstances.

I'm not quit sure what to think. The good news is I can at least salvage the data by popping it into a PC (I've yet to try it in another Mac). But I cannot use it to move data between my Mac and other computers.

Any thoughts on this?

If you have any data that is unique that that Flash drive, then transfer it to another drive. Keep the PNY drive around for Windows in the case of an emergency. However, I would otherwise forget about it.
