I found some files I don't remember having. Actually, they are recent items that I haven't opened, and I know no one has had physical access to my computer recently. Could these files somehow have been viewed remotely?

Where have the files appeared, what are they called, when are they dated (Just select the file and choose File --> Get Info)
It is pretty much impossible for anyone to have accessed these remotely unless you have specifically set up some type of network access to your machine, such as a file sharing or VPN program. I'd be surprised if there is anything suspicious about these files.
