Western Digital External hard drive

Hi everyone,

I just found this site so forgive my ignorance in advance. I have a 17" flat screen imac from 2003. I just bought a western digital external hard drive and it says it will work with os x 10.3+. I have os x 10.2.8 and it does not seem to work with my system (because I don't have os x 10.3 I guess) Do I need to return this and buy something else? if yes, what? Or can I make this work a different way because I am out of room!

You would be better off upgrading the OS to at least 10.3.
Apple does not sell that version of Mac OS X any more but e.g. Amazon or Ebay should have those and quite cheap. In Ebay just make sure it's the retail version.
Or depending on the total amount of RAM you have in your system, 10.4 may be even better for you. Also for that Amazon is a better choice than Apple.
If you returned the hard drive and got a different one.. most of the options would need at least 10.3 anyway. As would most software if you were to update.
