What happened to iPhone?

I assume they were only so much hot air and wishful thinking.
Apple announced at the last MacWorld that they were working with Sony Ericsson on projects like BlueTooth and iSync, and I'd imagine that that is all it was and anything beyond that is wanton speculation.
I've only been a mac user for a year and a half, but I've seen enough of these rumours to know that they are almost never close to reality.
 
Yet, the SonyEricsson P800, which was long in planning, is not supported by iSync and quite officially isn't SyncML compatible, afaik.
