windows wont boot up in bootcamp

I have partitioned in bootcamp on my mac pro. Then on installation of windows the mac restarts, goes to a blue / grey screen and hangs there forever.
on retstart there is some disc activity then all that stops.

The disc is an iso of xp SP3.
I have tried a few xp discs all have the same problem.. any ideas?
 
Is this a fresh install? Have you been able to use it at least once?

If this is a fresh install, how did you format the new partition? I had a similar problem when installing the bootcamp when on the XP installation the program asked me if I wanted to format the WIN partition, and I answered No (leave as it is now). It didn't work... Then reading the bootcamp installation instructions, it clearly states you DO have to format the partition (not a quick format). Then the installation completed and I was able to use the bootcamp.
